OK thanx but why is it smaller than the checked build?

Something to do with the debugging features, I believe.

I have installed the one in the link that I provided and I can confirm that it is indeed the final build of Windows XP Service Pack 3.

OK thanx very much for the help:)! Downloading it now (gonna be a painfull hit to my cap but aww well I need it)

I updated today using the MS updating.

I'll just be clever and do it when I go over my cap :D
No for my pc however, but for the home pc....

I Just installed it (314 mb) and now I can't connect to the internet (I'm on my other harddrive now). The beta also did this and that I could understand but this is the final release so what the hell! If anyone has the same problem or knows whats wrong , I'll be greatful for some help. Thanx!:)

I saw something on this at www.techsupportforums.com.

Something like this:

When installing SP3 it adds a new service for Ethernet and Internet connections.

First go to Start>Run and type "services.msc" And Click OK.

Second, You will want to scroll to the bottom and You'll notice "Wired AutoConfig", This is a new feature with SP3 and needs to be enabled so we will want to Right+Click and Go to Properties.

There will be a Drop-down box that Probably says Manual. This needs to be changed to Automatic. Then Click OK.

After the previous steps have been followed Right+Click on "Wired AutoConfig" Again and Choose, "Start" Since the service hasnt officially been started we need to start it.

Hope this works.

Damn , I did set it to auto an started the service but it still didn't work.
My modem(mega105wr) connects to the pc(via lan) and sync's to the server(telkom) but when I try to open a page like google or MB forums it just gives me that annoying message(this webpage can not be displayed). Ok I folowed all the steps that error tells me and that doesn't work eiher. I also went to my dsl settings and all seems to be fine there (settings are the same as on this hard-drive).:confused::confused:

Did you get an MS update yesterday by chance - to do with an IE7 security issue? The only reason I ask is that my google, forums, or any .php pages would also not display (I'm not using SP3 yet) - it seemed to start after I installed the latest security patch yesterday evening.

The ADSL router is fine and I can connect with my other PC that did not have the update installed...

Just a thought.

No I didn't at all.

I had this exact same problem! Its shows no DNS server when you enable your local area connection. Can I use the above steps to solve it? Cause I just reverted back to SP2 and everything works fine again.

Those steps doesn't fix the problem but it's worth doing because without that service running your not gonna be able to connect anyway.

Hi Sitnet. I am in the same boat, I tried the RC3 version of SP3 and that killed my internet so I waited for the final and that Kills my Internet too. I Was given a tip to start the New Service that SP3 puts in called "Wired Internet" or something, I started the Service and VOILA my Internet was back on, but unfortunately not for long, the next Morning when I booted up, Internet was dead again. If you have found the answer in the Interim I would be glad if you could let me know. Likewise If I find the answer I will post it here as well.
