XP VS Linux?

yea yea i c linux is not as bad as i thought :)

now what would be a good one to dual boot with vista?

is linux now easy like windows? will i need to do alot of reading and learning?

as i always say, as a run of the mill desktop linux is excellent. it's when you start needing to do specialised stuff that it lags behind. and also at times developers see it as the poor cousin so sometimes features arrive much later. for instance video for skype is only a recent addition and is still in beta stage.

I agree that Ubuntu is a good choice, although PCLinuxOS has recently received praise for being an easy environmenf for windows users to become accustomed to.

"Is linux now easy like windows"? It's easy enough to use, if you don't expect it to be just like windows. Given the simplicity with which one can install and use everyday features in recent Linux versions, the biggest issue people have is that it's different to Windows. I suggest that people either:

a) Boot off a LiveCD (no installation to your hard-disk) and play a little.

or,

b) Install it on a separate disk entirely, so as to leave the existing Windows disk alone. Literally, disable the existing disk in the BIOS, install Linux on an old spare, play in Linux for bit, then re-enable the Windows disk and add it to the boot menu. Thereafter you can choose which OS to boot into.
:)

You probably will need to do some reading and learning, yes.
