Paid R2300. Just picked it up, and left it at home to charge. Will PLAY tonite!!!

The dock looks really neat and the pouch seems to be made from high quality material. I think it's well worth it.

BTW...

I also picked up the Acer Liquid E, for around R1100; and that after a wait of just 6 days. Even after waiting so long for the Play, I just have to say...thank you Expansys for the excellent deals.

Don't know yet, I have a family member that might be interested, will let you know the moment I post it.

Why do I feel like a child waiting for Xmas pressy.... even when I know it is something that I purely want for developing software.

Note to self: Refreshing the tracking site will not make it go any faster.
 
Holy cow, totally not what I expected, I really thought this might be a really crap phone, based on reviews that I have seen.

Totally not the case, sure its not a SGS2 but its not bad at all. Best R2000 I spent in a while. Love all the games that comes bundled with it as well.

Edit: ok now off to root the sucker and load my own OS

Rooting is not such a difficult process. Looking for a good rom still.
 
Now this is exactly what I dont get, the OS that came with the phone was kind of **** well the 40 minutes it was on the phone. It had some frame drop problems with touch lag as well, this CM7.1 is smooth as silk, hell its even better on this phone than my DHD...

Yeah, well to be honest its almost dated hardware when you compare it to the monsters coming out now. The internal hardware is on par to the HTC Desire HD, in fact bar the memory its exactly the same. DHD has 1+ gig for app installs where this has 400 Mb

Personally I wonder if it was not Sony's plan all along, not to use top of the line hardware, thereby keeping it at a very low price. Reason I say that is because the target market for this device is kids, and I dont see parents paying R300 p/m for a phone for kids. At a low price it becomes serious competition when people renew the low/Top up contracts.

Showed it to a friends son today (14) and it did not take much for him to start nagging his parents to get him this instead of a Crapberry when his contract expires end of the month.
