Hi

Does anyone have an idea of when this phone might launch in south africa? (or more importantly , be available on Vodacom?)

also what are the alternatives to the X1? Please dont say iphone ... i have no love for it at all.
 
Probably December if one considers 'network testing'. The only decent alternatives are HTC, the Iphone couldn't dream of being a competitor to any serious phone. I personally hate Windows Mobile, but since SE aren't coming up with any decent UIQ phones X1 is probably the best choice or the HTC Diamond seems like a promising choice too.
 
I am also very keen on the X1, but my contract renews now. The iPhone is simply a gimick, nothing more. It would look nice with a sandton chicks D&G handbag and thats about it :D

The HTC touch pro is what I really want, but no idea when it will be out?
 
Its the same as the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro...
The X1 is only set for release 3-4 quarter this year which is already to late IMO.
Also the Diamond has 4GB internal memory, X1 doesnt.

well shouldn't be too long now, Diamond already here...
 
what i dont like about the diamond is that it takes no expansion cards(unless i read wrong).

Its a shame that the damn x1 will only be out that late... i upgrade next month , and thats just crap ... hehehe

Quite right which is why a lot of people are waiting for the Touch pro which has a qwerty KB and SD slot...:D

I reckon the X1 will be here within the next 2 months... IMO...

X1 beats the Touch Pro/Diamond IMO:
  • Bigger screen
  • Higher resolution
  • Doesn't have that ugly flashy/reflective finish
  • Headphone jack
Micro SD cards are darn cheap these days, and the X1 (and the Touch Pro) can take up to 16GB...

X1 Due for release in Europe in September IIRC.

Patiently awaiting its release - I plan to be Europe side then - so will hopefully pick it up there...
 
Yeah I am also very keen to wait for the X1, It looks better in every aspect to the Touch Pro.....What I fear is the pay in cost on these phones...On a Mtn talk 120 the Touch Diamond is R1699 pay in, thats crazy...I am really not keen on paying in on a phone which de-values faster than light.

I think the main thing that is going to split these two is their price.

I personally like the touchflo 3d interface more than the experia interface. Also the touch have a full 5 row qwerty(numbers is on their own keys) where the experia has a 4 row qwerty.

sony has better battery life and awesome resolution ... for a start...
 
From a user whos now used all three he rates the iPhone 1st!:eek:
