Hi

I am trying to compare the Rav4 to Xtrail. In the xtrail either a 2017 2.5 SE CVT or 2018 1.6DCI and in the Rav4 2.0 VX. The pricing is about the same. I wanted to check what the total cost of ownership will be. In terms of fuel consumption and maintenance. I have heard Nissan is expensive to maintain but not sure how true that is. Also I find real world (traffic and highway) fuel consumption to be different to what the guys quote on the website...

/In before " the xtrail is actually a Renault with a Nissan suit on, so it must be crap"...

(Personally I'd take the X trail precisely because it's a Renault in a Nissan suit)

Nothing is cheaper to maintain than Toyota, not even sure why they sell warranty with there products, as you will never need it :P

Nissan will be more costly with parts and service than a Toyota, through the 1.6DCI will save you on your fuel bill. 2.5 nissan is heavier on fuel then 2.0 from toyota through.

The 2.2 diesel rav4 is awesome, but the price is quite a bit more.

It's the other way around

Hi Nadeem, I can only speak for a vehicle which I personally own. My previous vehicle I owned was a 2008 Nissan Xtrail beautiful vehicle that served me well over the period which I owned it ( Pre Owned ) never gave me any issues service on time like any other car and you good. Only recently did I trade it in for the latest 2018 Nissan Xtrail and I must say I have had the vehicle for 2 months and satisfied with the unit. Although I do feel my 2008 model was built a bit more solid ....I did extensive research regarding this and it is attributed to the crumple zones which absorb impact and keep you and your passengers safe in the event of an accident. Other than that and the terrible ugly yellow headlights which I replaced I am happy with my purchase

I've heard that the 60k km service is crazy expensive because of the timing belt on the xtrail... Not sure how true that is
