Hi guys
I just want to know if the above is possible, I currntly have 1 1110 decoder and a sinle LNB i want to add a second decoder but as i am renting i am not allowed to touch the Dish to change the LNB to a twin LNB.
I want to know if its possible to just put a splitter on the cable from the dish to the 2 decoders and will it work or has anyone tried this?

It won't work properly.Because channels can be on different polarizations you will run into a problem where both decoders cannot signal to the lnb to change polarization for the channel you want to watch.

They will only let me do it if i use thier acredited installer, and they want to charge me about 1K why must i pay this much for something i can do my self.

Ask them how much of it is labour & how much for the LNB, if they say a large portion of it is the LNB tell them you will supply the LNB and then go get yourself one from Space TV & get them to instal it

thats the Krap part its 1K if i suply everything lnb and wiring etc :(

It will not take more than an hour if they know what they are doing. So from what you are saying, they want to charge you R1000 for an hour's labour... Hmmmmm

HMMM is correct, and its more like a 5 minute job the dish is on the side of the house all thats needed is get on a ladder remove old LNB put new one in connect new cable and push thoru wall
ill just swop it myself and before i move swap it again,

Isie im sure you are more capable of installing that LNB then Areasat.
Besides you could tell the relevant parties that the accredited installers installed your LNB and the howling wind blew your receipt away.

Cool!
Just wanted to know because i might have to do the same soon.

Ive done it before for my Dad, its easy if you have a dish already installed just use a marker to mark where the old LNB was(tha angle its place at etc) an put the new LNB exactley where that one is.

to confirm check on your decoder the signal strenght and quality. Its literaly a 5 minute job. the hardest part is runing the new wires through the wall :)
