Well that’s just farking great, im still waiting for them to get the XtreamerPro’s software right, and then they go and develop another one, I won’t recommend this player to anyone, if it’s the same kind of support you get as with the XtreamerPro, then rather just get the popcorn Hour, the Xtreamer pro is an endless battle and the company won’t take the blame/responsibility, even after hundreds of people bombard there forum with hundreds of problems, they just turn a blind eye

STAY AWAY

If the hardware is solid on this device, the software really isn't an issue since it's running a proper OS. Just run XBMC on it.

Ja I was thinking the same thing. I really dig my Mede8er but it does a poor job with subtitles. I find I am watching more and more films that need subtitles, so full support for ass. subtitles would be awesome.

Maybe you should read up on it before commenting. This is basically a pc, so you don't have to worry about software support. You can use whatever app you want on it, XBMC, MediaPortal, Boxee, MythTV etc. This is the perfect solution IMO. You get the hardware, and then decide what software you want to use. I'm currently using a pc running MediaPortal. Will definitely replace the pc with this as soon as it's available.

Does anyone know when/where the Ultra will be available locally?

These are the same farks who released the mvix, only to drop them with an incomplete product when they moved to the Xtreamer ... looks like the normal modus operandi for this lot....

Will never buy a Unicorn product ever!

BTW... if you want an HTPC rather go for the Zotac MAG mini PC http://www.zotac.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=100082&lang=en

Thanks for your word of wisdom, i know exactly what an HTPC is and what the Xtreamer Ultra is all about, it still uses its own OS and its still Xtreamer Build and a Xtreamer product, which means ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT, endless firmware updates (for who know what coz all the same problems never seems to dissapear)

Do yourself a favor, go and sign up on the Xtreamer forum and look at the countless problems and make sure to have a close look at the attitude of the forum moderators and the answers the people get on the forum, its absolutely shocking

When the new consumer act kicks in, i cant see a future for Xtreamer, Not in SA

Just read up on this Ultra and it does sound fantastic.

I understood it the same way Roger said it regarding the OS. It's a HTPC and you as the owner decide on what software it runs.

Are you saying it runs XBMX, Boxee etc on top of it's own software?
