Jerry Yang, the CEO of Yahoo and the co-founder, is stepping down as the company’s CEO.
Yang recently faced fierce criticism from shareholders over his failure to conclude a deal with another giant in the market – Microsoft.
Recently Yahoo was hoping to make a deal with Google on internet advertising but those negotiations also broke down.
Yang has told employees in an email that he will be assisting in the search for his successor and remains loyal to the company stating: “All of you know that I have always and will always bleed purple” – in reference to the predominant colour on the company’s logo reported BBC.
Yahoo’s share price has plummeted to around $10 giving the company a valuation of around $14,7bn.
