Yahoo! mailbox problem

Hey everyone!!!! I'm sorry if this is maybe not in the right section but I don't know where it should be posted. But anyway, A few days ago I registered for a free e-mail account at Yahoo! . On the registration form all the normal things were required like name, surname, secondary e-mail address etc, which I filled in honestly.

So I test my new mail account by sending a mail to my normal telkom mail address and there in the "From" tab my full name and surname is displayd! The thing is I don't want some random person that I reply to (which I most likely don't know at all) to know my full name and surname. Oh and no I didn't add myself as a contact so it can't be that.

Can I change it or do I have to create a new account, or can I maybe set a setting somewhere so rather just my mail address is displayd?

You can change it, just check your settings / profile and change your name accordingly.

I know you can change it in Gmail so you must be able to change it in Yahoo!

Best place is to check your settings and PROPERLY!

OK cool! The thing that still bothers me though I still want yahoo to know my real name, I just don't want it to be seen in the mails I send. But I'll go and check the settings quickly and see what I can find.

Ditto - just go through your settings - and actaully, go through them all, as there is normally a few other things that need to be, can be added, ticked, changed etc.

I don't know what I just did, but I think I messed something up!!! I clicked my name on the "My Yahoo!" page an then it looked like I could edit my profile but it asked me details again and I entered it all and then it said "welcome to your brand new profile!". Does this meen I have two accounts now, because it didn't ask me what I want my e-mail address to be again.

Yahoo makes a lot of money by targeting ads based on what you search for. If you're still logged in, they will track what you do. Rather pick an alias.

After you logged in to your Yahoo Mail account, click on Options (top right) > General Preferences.
Just change the "From name" field to whatever you want it to be. This won't change your account settings, just your outgoing email's From field, as you requested. Or leave that field empty, it should then just display your email address in outgoing emails.

Can you see Gmail if you're capped? I know Google has a local site, but I was wondering if the mail can also be 'local'.
