Yay - Lost weight

It's amazing, I also watched the Tim Noakes episode on Carte Blanche. I thought as a professor at UCT, having lost 15 kgs and telling people to rip pages out of his book "Lore of Running", there must be something more to this.

So, I did some research and was amazed to find out that carbs are extremely bad for the body. I read a book called "Why we get fat and what to do about it". Basically you can eat unlimited fats and protein, no carbs or sugar. Or at least limit your carb intake to between 50 and 70 grams a day. I have high cholesterol so I wanted to try this.

In one week of cutting out carbs (I used to have oats for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch) I have lost 4 kgs. Remember I have done no exercise whatsoever, only cut out carbs. I still ate chocolate every night which I know I'm addicted to. Chocolate and coffee are my 2 downfalls.

Just my 2c, use it or don't

Yes, carbs are the devil! Read The primal blueprint by mark Sisson. You won't need to go to gym to lose weight. Just eating healthy is enough.

My issue isn't so much the coffee I suppose. It's more like after dinner I really enjoy coffee and nothing goes better with coffee than chocolate.

Why is coffee bad for weigh loss? I have mine black with no sugar

Thanks Raevinn. I will definitely read it. I can't believe that us humans are so brainwashed when it comes to weight loss. I'm tired of hearing eat less and exercise more.

Eat more protein and veggies and workout, that's what I do :) I try have a protein with every meal. Also I love chilli and that apparently speeds up ur metabolism

Chilies are good for you :P

As for the coffee, its not bad, its just better without sugar, but I hate coffee without sugar, so was easier to cut out coffee, and switch over to black tea with milk, and green tea without milk, for my caffeine fix.

You might not need exercise, but hey I love the high I get from it, as well as how it helps your body look better, and I see it as part of a healthy life style. Opinions opinions :)

I started drinking black coffee 1st thing in the morning a couple weeks ago. I'm used to it now - in fact, I'm starting to enjoy it's very unique taste.

Wow! It was a huge adjustment stopping sugar in my coffee. Now I hate sugar in my coffee. But black! I don't know if I can do that

I do only around 12-15 but that's because I switch between sets so I will do push ups and then lunges for eg and do three sets of each but swapping. It is not that heavy hey but will add to the challenge

I commented on my thread to get luck wished to me- and were on a coffee debate - heartless bastards

Oh I am using the mens health big book of exercises and doing the 4 week plan they have in it
