Year End Functions

Maybe the companies should give each employee a R150 gift voucher, and said employee can go buy whatever he/she wants.

No fights, no quarrels, no silly office games etc etc etc...
I'm up for that. I'm usually the one who just floats around at the parties anyway...I don't like office parties lol

Luckily this year we didn't have one due to COVID-19. Nothing else was given though, which I'm also fine with.

The missus companies staff get a gift voucher for Checkers :X3:

However we going to a fancy wine farm for lunch :)
I would take the voucher. Actually I would take any freebie they offer over a function.

Our year end functions used to be awesome. Weekends away with immediate families allowed to come with.

But the cool people left, management changed, and now it's just the typical evening affair of drunken ass-licking and trying to be popular with mostly boring people who enjoy talking shop after hours...

Sorry dude, I know what its like with these mergers and things, it's kuk.
Company I worked for, one that I could truly say was truly South African like melktert and Bobotie was bought out by the Americans. You do not need to think far as to how much they destroyed it. Lots of people left, including me.

My previous company was the one that gave birth to another truly South African platform, Mxit. It was acquired by Altech and not long after that died. So even if it stays local a merger always has the potential to upset the applecart.

Ah yes, Altech. That lot that thinks employees are fixed assets like machines.

wouldnt be Massmart by any chance?

Company has booked out The Range in Tokai. Same place as last year but I don't mind, it's a good venue.

We have about 500 people that need to be accommodated so always going to be venues like the above.

What are you doing for your year end function this year?
The usual - get there, talk about work, have a few, talk about people at work and how rude some of them are, have a few more, start dancing, have a few more, start talking to office crush, have a few more, start talking to the known office whore, have a few more, go home and have some ice cream before bed.
