Hi people

Anyone seen these? Just drove from Lanseria to Centurion on the N14 and saw 2 yellow cameras on the side of the road, above a speed camera sign. They were not manned. They also didn't seem to have lines across the road, maybe radar?

FWIW, Waze didn't alert me of them, so they must be new?
They are not fixed. And I've not seen them in the same place every day. They probably move them. But they also look fake...

They look like the fixed camera boxes painted yellow and propped up on something. They honestly don't look legit. Also odd that on the other side of the highway by the total was a manned mobile camera...

The camera's are there to try and get people to slow down for the roadworks, hence the reason why they are bright yellow with a big camera sign under it.

I honestly don't think they are legit. I have gone past them a couple of times at a faster speed than the roadwork speed limit recommends and it hasn't flashed.

They don't need to flash to take a picture. I got caught out in Stellenbosch by one on the R44 as you head into town. I also thought I wasn't caught but lo' and behold I got a nice email from PayCity to tell me I was nabbed.

The are fake. And even if it was a real camera it can not be attached to traffic sign as any wind would make the camera move effecting accuracy.

What makes you guys so sure that they are fake?

If it is yellow and on a tripod, then it is most probable a laser level of sorts

I drive between Centurion and Lanseria daily for work, have never seen them - will look out for them!

its a yellow box on top of a temporary traffic sign. Not on a tri pod.

Off topic but why the fok did they need to resurface the N14 specifically talking coming off N1 towards the R55?

Before I left for my overseas trip 2 weeks back, everything looked 80% complete.

Another tender in the works ?

Saw some on the N4 towards Emalahleni/Witbank from Pretoria where they had some roadworks (60km/h and not a worker in sight). Yellow square box with a camara. It had a wire connected to it. No one manning it.
