Yes folks, I've got my Mac

Schweet :D

I thought you had managed to source a black one though?

First impressions or is it too early?

BTW - is this your first mac?

I was thinking about it again and the R1900 extra for the colour black was a bit much, fisrt impressions, impressed, yes first Mac as well, schweet.

And how do I change the region for playing DVD's?

erm, how do I maximise Safari?
Clilck the maximise '+' found in the top corner and it will optimise the page size for the content - otherwise drag the bottom right hand corner.

If you're using safari (my browser of choice) make sure you install Acidsearch and PithHelmet.

It should ask you if you want to change regions when you insert a new one from a different region. AFAIK you're limited to the number of times you can change so consider looking for new firmware to disable that.

Couple of helpful tips.

In OSX, Maximising (The Green circle) maximises the window in relation to the content.
Closing a window does not always quit the app. This is dependant on the type of app. For example, closing Mail does not quite the app, it merely closes the window. Mail continues running in the background. Same for iTunes, Quicktime and others.
Other apps like iPhoto do not benefit from having the app still running in the background, so when you close the window, the app closes.

In safari preferences, enable tabs. Option-T opens a new tab

Screenshots : Option-Shift-4 allows to to take a screenshot of whatever you select. Option-Shift-3 takes a screenshot of the desktop

Another one that didnt seem to be enabled by default are two finger scrolling and the right click (two fingers on trackpad and a simultaneous click if memory serves). It might make the transition easier.

Take the extra R1900 and invest in as much memory as you can lay your hands on. It is the differnece between night and day on the MacBook.
I have just gone to 1GB and it is flying now.

lol - I've got 2x 1gb sticks sitting here waiting for my mini - my courier (family member) forgot to pack it!

I had to wonder what they thought the ram was for.

No firmware yet. Some say never will be. You can use the VLC Player and it won't ask for the region. Apple are very pedantic about these things.

Actually, I did have to change the DVD region to region 2 for my DVD;s to work.:o

I must say I'm very impressed with the battery life, I ran it for 5 hours yesterday after the first full initial charge, schweet.

Careful how often you change it - after a set amount it might stick.

Yeah - not a bad battery in those things. :)
