Yet another Afrihost cock-up

I am now so far over Afrihost. Every interaction I've had with these bozos in the last twelve months has made me want to beat my own head in with a cricket bat.

The latest:

I had a 1 + 1Gb mobile data package (R99 per month) that I signed up for about 6 months ago. In October or thereabouts I lost my sim card and called to ask for a replacement. The individual who 'assisted' me instead created a new 1Gb mobile data account and issued a new sim card.

When I called to inform them of the mistake and asked them to cancel the newly created account and reassign the sim card to the existing 1 + 1Gb account, they instead cancelled the 1 + 1Gb account. When I once again called to inform them of this, they then created a third mobile data account, also for 1Gb, which I have no sim card for, am being charged for and neither want nor can use. I now have two separate 1Gb mobile data accounts, 1 sim card and a bill of R200 per month.

When I called again now to try, once again, to rectify this cock-up I was told that the only thing they can do is (so very kindly) give me my unused data from December but if I sign up for Plus I'll get the extra Gigabyte back again.

Last month I took a look at my Telkom records, and I spend more on support calls to Afrihost than I do on their useless, Godawful service. And the cherry on top of that little fact is that the only people you can get through to at Afrihost are the ones with no power to do anything helpful or constructive.

Here's a challenge: Try get through to someone at the critical care department at AH. If you can do it in under an hour, I will be flabbergasted.

Afrihost, I used to love you. Now, I fkn hate you.

Nope not MTN Afrihost, where is that Afriman we had on here

Hi DotKomrade

Really sorry to hear about the troubles you've had with us, definitely not in our standards of Support :( Sorry that we've let you down.
Just to touch on the SIM swap, it's a little complicated at the moment as we don't have processes in place to run an actual SIM swap (like MTN would do) but instead cancel the lost/ stolen SIM and issue a new one.

Sorry about the confusion on the cancellations though - I'd like to follow up on where we went wrong. Please PM me your info and a ticket ID that I can skim through :)

Hi Afriguy, I managed to get in touch with Michael at critical care, cancelled all my remaining Afrihost services and will be refunded for the additional data package.

I'm sorry to hear that you will be leaving us. :(

It is definitely not cool losing a client to an experience such as yours, and I certainly hope you have a more fruitful experience with your next service provider.

You're not losing me because of this experience. You're losing me due to a whole collection of crappy service experiences over the last year. Hence the reason you guys currently pay for my 10Mb line.

Either way, I think you guys have a lot of work to do from a service point of view, most especially in the call centre department.

It is definitely something we are working hard with our Team on to improve. I certainly hope you guys start seeing an improvement in the coming weeks.

Must say; I have been with Afrihost since October 2010 and sad to say that I am actively looking for a new ISP. Their prices remain great, but I can no longer take the slow speed. Not sure whether the move to MTN had anything to do with this, but it does seem like it.

Alternative ISP suggestions welcomed :)

I'm so sorry to hear that you're considering moving after all this time. Maybe it's worth seeing if we can sort out the slow speed for you. Would be very grateful if you would PM me and give me a chance to do say.

If not I totally understand. I wish you all the best :)
