That's a lot of money. You could buy a professional video camera for those prices.

It isn't better. Not as far as the pictures it takes go, imho. It's just easier to use.

Over here the difference is much smaller.There are more differences between the cameras - build quality, weather/dust sealing, more features - see the link bwana posted.
But I don't think it takes better pictures. It has the same sensor. bwana takes better pictures with his 400D than I take with my 40D

I have been lying to to guys all along. I'm sorry that I wasn't truthful. Okay, I'll just come out and say it. I used a pinhole camera for all my Flickr pics.

I have played around with the camera body and stock lens at the camero show in melborne last year.
Just be aware that the Nikon lenses are, on the whole, more expensive than the Canon equivalent.
For instance:
Nikon 17-55 F2.8 R18399
Canon 17-55 F2.8 R13797
Doubt there are many [-]pentax[/-] Nikon users monitoring this canon thread - perhaps you might be better off starting a new one if you're really intent on selling you soul
