Duster & Duster for your needs man, it ticks every box & the basic engineering is a huge Pro ito of running costs & maintenance.

Get the manual tranny, clutch is super light. The N/A petrol vs Diesel debate depends on your kilos.
I was gonna say Duster or Nissan Qashqai. Similar price. Better comfort and refinement in the Nissan. They both come with the Renault DCI engine.

Audi Q5 B8.5 2.0 or 3.0 TDI with the smallest rims (17”? To fit meatier/taller tyres). Very underrated soft-roaders. Look out for tow bar, B&O sound, and Navigation Pack.

Old picanto/I10? or even older Tazz/Citi Golf?
or Swift/celerio older models.

plenty of choice, even a old Honda Jazz

what Id stay far away from is a Plastic fantastic BMW or Merc, although a Old stlye Merc might be good if you wanted a car for long distances.
Serious question, did your mom get you tested?

Get a Duster. The wife has one (previously mine) and that thing is awesome.

Not a rocketship but exceedingly comfortable, light on fuel and maintenance isn’t too bad. We have the Prestige Automatic, Blind Spot Monitoring and 360° Cameras are awesome features. The Double Clutch works very well with the 1.5l Diesel Motor. Fuel consumption, we are sitting at about 6.4l/100km over the last 45kkm, mix of 60% Long Distance and the rest Town driving.

Fitted AT Dunlops and it behaves flawlessly on gravel and with enough momentum, it goes okay in sand, but being a 2WD that’s not it’s forte.

50kkm on the clock and the front brakes needed replacing. New disks and pads was about N$6k. So far, the only big ticket item that needed to be done. Waiting for the cam belt change at 90k, but I’m not too concerned about reliability.

Duster gets my Vote.
I am sure you wont struggle a clean well after one in your budget.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll definitely have a look at the Duster.

You bascially just need the 320D F30.
Why the infatuation with the 320d? Doesn't meet my needs or budget.

Low mileage EcoShxt
Generally, not a fan of Ford products, but I'll add it to the list, thanks.

Sounds like it could turn into an expensive maintenance nightmare. At least that's my impression of Audis.

This old MyBB forum joke about the BMW 320d is really getting old.

You must really try to get some new material *sigh*

See the thing is, like the 320d, the joke is reliable. So likely it'll go the distance, like the 1991 Opel 1.6 Monza CoTY

Everyone thinks this, and you'd be surprised. A Q5 is an A4 on stilts. An Audi is a VW. They are not expensive to maintain considering the quality of vehicle you get. Another plus is that there are always parts available.
