T2600 (Yonah, 1.6GHz, 2MB L2 cache), 667MHz FSB, 945 Chipset

vs

T2370 (Yonah, 1.73GHz, 1MB L2 cache), 533MHz FSB, 965 Chipset

Which performs better (everyday tasks: heavy multitasking, video encoding, office applications, general productivity) ?

If you now include that T2600 is coupled with GMA950 integrated graphics and T2370 is coupled with X3100, which performs better in games?

The GMA is somewhat "heavier" on the subsystem (w.r.t load).

If you looking at JUST word, excel, multitasking = 2600.

Personally, I would rather the 2370. The performance drop will not be noticable, and the X3100 has better offload when viewing movies etc.

The 945 chipset might have better battery life though...

Up to you...

Have I rattled the bird cage? :D

Confused? :)

Heh... I was confused BEFORE even... I'm just so indecisive right now. Also coupled with the fact that I need to buy somewhat soon :/

The notebook with the T2370 is quite a bit heavier than the notebook with the T2600, so that's swaying me toward the older notebook... Another thing is that the T2370 notebook has 2 x 512MB RAM (only 2 slots), whereas the T2600 notebook has 1 x 1024MB RAM (an open slot).

All your advice is much appreciated!

Oooh.

I, personally go for the 2600 now.

I like the idea of 1x1024 with an open slot.

Upgrade opportunities...

As I said, if you plan on burning your fingers on excel, then the onboard GMA is fine, PLUS open slot - and it sounds cool.

How much do the notebooks cost, if I may ask?

amgad I dont know what you are talking about! wtf?! **runs off to reaserch** :D

Notebooks are comparable in price... +/- R6500

The open slot is also a big plus for me... I'd prefer everyday computing performance to gaming performance
