Yet another DSTV installation problem

Howzit,

So recently bought a place, which had a dish up already and a single LNB there were two cables though. One into the single LNB and the other one chopped off.

In the lounge there are 3 cables on from the wall socket and 1 cable in the main bedroom.

I couldnt get it to work with the single LNB, I got a neighbor to test it and nor could they get it to work.

So went out and bought a dual LNB and a 1.2m coaxial cable. I extended the chopped off one with the one I purchased and then placed the dual LNB it its socket and screwed both cables in.

I have tested all 3 cables in every possible way and still it tells me no connection to the LNBs.

I will get into the ceiling tomorrow to follow said cables.

What else could be wrong? Alignment?

either cables are cut some where along the line or (and I think this is more likely from the way you describe they had a pvr with xtaview) there was a twin LNB there before and the previous occupant just swapped the twin with a single and didn’t align it correctly

Check the cables for continuity. join the center & outer wires on a cable together and see if you get any continuity, you can also use this to trace each of the cables.

My daughter bought Dstv Compact in this week and after numerous wasted calls we finally got an installation date and time. The time was between 12pm and 2pm today and it's 4:15pm and they still have not been. I told her to phone them and they say they stuck with an installation out in Hout Bay somewhere.

Thanks Quantum Theory for the offer but they did install the dish etc BUT Multichoice have started their shyte from activation. The service could not be activated because according to them my daughter owes R17 which is so strange because the account was paid up years ago.

Told the unhelpful call centre operator to FO because they are so unhelpful and I have no patience talking to people that are unhelpful.
