Having spent a full day in numerous shops trying to make a decision on a TV, I have to admit defeat & need the expert sales-bull-free assistance that I think I can only find here.

- The viewing distance is from wall to couch is approximately 5m.
- I will be watching DSTV content from an HD PVR, DVD's, Blu-Ray & TV shows from the Internet. Not any sport.
- I don't like 3D, but the pricing difference between a 2D & 3D TV appears to be negligible.
- I will be playing console games off an Xbox.
- Won't really watch TV during the day, mainly @ night. During the day the room is quite dark.
- I have R10000 as a budget.

I have narrowed it down to either a 46" in the Samsung or 47" in the LG range. Having visited most of the usual large retailers & expert shops, the prices & models are what Makro has on their website:

**LG**
- 47LM5800 => R7999
- 47LS4600 => R6799
- 47LM4600 => R8499 (Dion Wired - R8000)
- 47LM6410 => R10999

**Samsung**
- UA46EH5000 => R7499
- UA46EH6030 => R8999
- UA46ES5600 => R8999 (Comes with 'free' DSTV PVR Included) (Dion Wired R7900 without decoder)

I have used the LG & Samsung websites to compare their own models & it would seem that the LG 47LM5800 is the best value for money while the Samsung UA46EH6030 would be the best choice.

There are some Sony Bravia models under R10000 just to add more complication.

However, I am still unsure & any assistance would be mcuh appreciated!?!

We have the 46EH6030, used at a distance of approx 3m, mostly for streaming video via HTPC, or 3D Blurays and Xbox gaming. It's pretty fantastic for all 3 of those IMO.

I got the 46" 7100 about 2 months ago and mainly used it for Xbox/ Blu ray. It has developed a slim green line down the side of the screen when it's on for while. Apparently it looks quite common. I know some LGs have that cool split screen gaming mode.
