I will admit, I've not paid much attention to cars and the tech on them in a very long time.

Honestly, one of the first things I would do is build a list of the things that you would classify as absolute non-negotiables in a car (airbags, etc etc), nice to haves (bluetooth streaming, etc).. and then start finding models that fit within your price and age range.

Slightly disappointing, besides it beings Yaris what did you look for? I am asking because the spec on the car is very underwhelming for someone who was looking for more features.

The Quest..., The Amaze and what is that small sedan Suzuki produced...
But for R200k, I would rather get something like an Opel Astra, much better features

Better features for sure, but dealerships nearby and availability/cost of parts?
To be honest, I was looking at the possibility of a 320d or an Audi, but the idea of a 2nd hand luxury car started to scare me.
I had a look at a few Corolla Quests 2019 models, they appear to be in abundance all of a sudden, but the features for me were just lack luster.
I did find a Corolla Prestige that looked nice, but when we got to the dealer, it actually had some small issues with it, even some that the sales rep pointed out to us.
The Yaris wasn't bad, it actually had enough features to suit me and it came at a price tag that actually fit my budget and I actually quite liked it, it's still feels like a major upgrade from my previous car.

My biggest gripe with the Yaris is the two airbags, many other cars at the same price range have six, it's an old car that was brought here because Toyota does not have respect for one of its biggest markets.

I don't think <2% market is worthwhile to spend time on and change your line-up /spec if it dominates sales within that <2%.

True, it's mostly disappointing from the perspective of customers who don't demand what they deserve.
