I have spent a few hours now looking through this forum and all I am is more confused.

I thought that I'd go for the Mweb uncapped 4mb offering until I learned that its nearly a thousand rand a month (that's what it costs to school a child FFS!!)

So now I'm thinking that as nice as uncapped would I'd probably be paying for the 200gig a month downloaders as well as having heavier shaping and contention.

So I'm thinking a capped package with a decent amount of bandwidth, my needs are as follows:

  • 4mb (preferably unshaped but unwilling to pay a premium for that alone, I'll evaluate based on price.)
  • 80-100gb cap (will be more than enough, I cant see myself using more then 50gig in a month but I'd like not to have to think about it.)
  • Around the R500 mark

…is this unreasonable or is there an offer around this kind of area?

R1000 to school a child? Try 3 and 1/2 times that :erm:

OMG not another thread :P

4mb line is R413 you can cheaper from isp etc, but you will pay around r400 just for 4mb line.

cap cheapest was R200 for redafrica deal which is over now.

unshaped 50gb data is about R475 a month.

Thanks for replying, so basically a 4mb line is going to cost no matter what cap/shaping options I choose, got it. Sounds like Mweb uncapped 4mb is (relative to whats around) not a bad option.

Kid will just have to learn to read and times tables at home...
