Your best cheap shots

Nope, no panoMan software installed (never heard of it till now), this is bog standard camera software on the phone that loads up when you open the lense cover.

Maybe Nokia figured people that use Navigators will need to take panaroma shots for when they get lost :)

Nice picture ldmelsa, there is something about lilies that makes them work perfectly on low end cameras. But the CoolPix 700 is pretty impressive - it even has autofocus and exposure times of up to 8 seconds, something you do not even see on high end phone cameras. I does have a tiny sensor though...

Here are some lilies done with a Nokia 6230i featuring a 1.3 megapixel sensor. I got the phone in 2005

And a Protea as shot with a Nokia 6233 featuring 2 megapixel sensor done in 2006

I need to figure out a way to get the images off a 1996 Sony DSC-F1 then I'll charge it up and see what comes out. :)

:D I love old stuff. But I already have a cheap bridge camera that brings me lots of joy and as far as cheap cameras go I prefer new entry level phones over old consumer cameras. Remember, you have to see it in context. Those cameras might be cheap by today's standards but back then they were pretty cutting edge.

Something like the Nokia 5130 or even 5000 is really cheap by today's standards and they are new releases - that is where you need to apply some skill and a lot of luck if you want something good to come out.

I am really impressed with the panorama bwana did with his 2mp FF phone - even though it is not a cheap phone by any standards it is the thought that counts :p

Absolutely wonderful to see some more phone camera pics. I am thinking of getting the 5530XM soon - should have the exact same camera as the 5800XM.

Sunday Afternoon

with a nice jug of iced tea and, of course, the iPhone.

Probably the same 3mp module that you get in the iPhone 3GS since it has a lot of noise even at low ISO speeds. I picked up this phone (8months old) on Friday for R1800. Pretty good allround except for the camera, guess I used to N-series quality.
