So...

Your close friend has this completely off the wall psycho gf who you justifiably cannot stand. For whatever reasons your friend chooses to continue exploring a relationship with said wackjob.

How do you react? Respect his decision? Or refuse to be in her presence and give him admin every time he spends time with her rather than you?

I have been in this situation, and I have told her to fck off many times while we were in the same conversation. My friend is now not dating her anymore and we are still friends. :D

well firstly you'd have to give the whackjob more of a chance to make an impression on you because it's your buddy who is going out with her. only after that, if there was still no luck liking her, would I let it be known (just once) that I don't like her and please not bring her around to every get together if possible.

Yep, agree with the previous comments. Just be dead honest with your pal. Tell him he isn't allowed to bring her around and that he cant talk about her in your presence. Basically a non-entity to you.

Let them be. It'll sort it self out. Don't make yourself the enemy and thereby the target for blame when the relationship ends.

I once gave a friends gf, 10c and told her to go buy herself a better personality... She threw it at me and cracked one of their windows ;) Gotta love it...

My mate threatened our friendship - he was right in the end, but it fscked me off no end at the time. If you feel strongly about something and sensitivity doesnt help, then go for the jugular...

What if aforementioned whackjob gf had already been given a chance and betrayed everyone's trust in the process.

As a friend would you not be concerned about your best friend and his insistence at pursuing this obviously detrimental choice in relationship? Would you not try to talk some sense into the silly bugger? He might have had a lapse in judgment but all is solved over a beer or four.

Would it be fair at this juncture to make it be known that she isn't welcome, and that the option of you three spending time together is out of the question?

well obviously if she's already been given that chance then no .......

Well its his (your friend's) decision in the end...

If my friend came to me and said "listen dude your gf is a whackjob" I'd probably want to hear his reasoning for it. Otherwise I'd respect his opinion, and plan around it

EDIT: Who can forget the 'Bros before hos' rule?

Good advice!

everytime she came round to visit him i used to g outside and p1ss on the driver's doorhandle of her golf.

she wasnt right for him, but hey, he was getting laid.
5 years later they got divorced, my buddy is happy with his new girl x1000000 and he actually appreciates me trying to help him right back then when his judgement was cloudy.
he did find it odd that her one doorhandle was a lot more faded than the other side.

And you approve of his new girlfriend? The one that actually makes him truly happy? You're still good buddies, and he still values your opinion?

Though I must admit, the pissing thing, if not a bit odd, is hell of a funny! :D

yes, she is cool. they are married now and have a lovely son.

the old wife changed him in a way i noticed that the bloke wasnt the same anymore...when i mean "friend" i mean someone you have known most of your life, so you can tell when he changes behaviour etc... i did keep my mouth shut after voicing an opinion once, but we never drifted apart as buddies. i just gave him space and time..if you get too involved it'll ruin your friendship. and friends arent so easy to replace (the proper ones)..women come and go (apologies to the women reading this thread..but when you are young and seed-sowing that is the way it is)

happened to me too. My best friend had this weird gf and i just told him, dude, she has to f... off. She's draging you down, you are not Happy anymore, GET RID OF HER. it worked actually :)

Sit him down, and voice your concerns, if he refuses to listen - and you truly believe you are right - respect him enough to let him bump his own head...

Wait till it ends / he will come crawling back to his friend... then you can rub in a nice "told you so"
