Howzit guys

Using this thread as inspiration, what is your security setup these days?

Mine is as follows:

Main desktop
Anti-virus: ESET NOD32 version 2.7 + AVG Free 8 (yes, I know that using two anti-virus products isn't recommended so no need to tell me :D)
Anti-spyware: Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6
Firewall: COMODO Pro 3

Notebook
Anti-virus: ESET NOD32 version 3
Anti-spyware: Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6
Firewall: COMODO Pro 3

Here you can discuss your experiences with different security applications, good or bad.

Let us know when your setup changes ;)

Anti-Virus: Avira Antivir Personal
Anti-Spyware: Spybot 1.6 and AdAware '08
Firewall: Sygate Personal Firewall

I haven't tried that one myself, but the day COMODO starts acting up on me then I definitely will :D

Your thoughts on that particular firewall? :)

well nothing has got by it yet ;) Maybe not as many options as Comodo but plenty enough for me :D

Hmm... no antivirus for me. But then again a virus won't know what to do when it gets to my Linux machine :D
Running a hardware firewall on my router, planning on getting a box for IPcop real soon.

slackware sever running iptables, sendmail, clamav. wireless ap's in a dmz. internal windows boxes with mcafee internet security suite and spybot.

I haven't had any problems with Spybot thus far (except for it's TeaTimer function, it just gets in my way :D)

Only kaspersky antivirus (I find it the best)... I used to run a firewall on my windows machine... then i reinstalled and never installed one again. I dont even run windows firewall either... ive never found it neccesary... if your windows is up to date... and youre running a good antivirus... you dont need a firewall (IMO)

Do you really think someones gonna go through hours and hours and days to "hack" your machine.... what for? a few TV episodes? a bank statement? Pff..... just another piece of software i dont need :P

I'm inclined to agree, though I primarily use COMODO for the HIPS functionality.

Router
SPI Firewall built-in.
NAT built-in. (I know, it's not necessarily a security thing - I count is as such)

Desktop (Windows)
Avast, Windows Defender, Windows Firewall

Desktop (Linux)
None beyond the normal Linux setup.

based on the amount of crap my firewall has detected and stopped ..... it's very foolish to say that. But hey, each to his own .... I'll keep an eye out for a "help, I'm infected" thread ;)
