For interest I compared the results of the March 9 and March 25 by-elections with the results from same wards in the 2004 National Election. My prediction for 2009 is closely based on those comparisons:

ANC 56%
DA 16%
COPE 12%
IFP 6%
ID 2%
OTHERS 8%

So what is your election projection?

ANC.....45-60
DA.......15-20 :)
COPE.....5-12
IFP........5-7
ID.........1-3
OTHERS..5%

This totally depends on voter turnout... the more people that come vote... the less majority the ANC gets :D

I hope gatecrasher is right, but mine:
ANC 64%
DA 16%
COPE 12%
IFP 5%
Other: 3%

ANC 40%
COPE 22%
DA 20%
Others 18%

No way anc will get less than 50% of the vote.
Same going for DA getting 20%.
The majority of people who voted for ANC in the previous election and don't want to vote ANC this election would vote COPE.

I'm just being hopeful.

Although these are ideal:

COPE 60%
ANC 20%
ID 10%
IFP 8%
DA 2%

ANC 71%
DA 14%
COPE 5%
IFP 4%
ID 2.5%
FF+ 1%
ACDP 1%
Others 1.5%

I think the ANC will get more votes (Two-Thirds majority) because some idiots out there who are fed up with the ANC will decide not to vote because they say there is no other party to vote for and others say the ANC will win anyway, so why bother to vote?

I will jump up and down like a maniac if the election results show that the ANC won by less than two-thirds majority, meaning less than 66.667%.

IMO if the ANC was to get 56% we'd need to see COPE getting around 15% of the vote.

So close, I think the IFP will drop more though.

anc 52%
cope 18%
da 14%
ifp 6%
udm 3%
id 3%
ff+ 1%
others 3%

basically, anc will get more than half of all votes but definitely not more than 66%, and the da will lose official opposition status to cope.

but we'll see by the end of the week
