Your personal media player(s)

Everthing via Plex...but the latest version of Plex doesn't allow me to shuffle through my music folder (only the artist or album folder), so I'm using WMP as well...with K-Lite Codecs.
 
Mediamonkey for music. (Though Grooveshark is busy taking over)

SVP for videos.

I'm rather surprised to see no mention of SVP, as once you have it set up properly it's pretty hard to go back to normal 23.996 fps playback. SVP upsamples your standard 24fps (or lower FLV youtube rip) videos to 48/60fps making it much smoother.

You need a decent CPU and GPU to handle it though.

There's a lot of tweaking to be done and only a little bit of artifacts on occasion. For example, watch this video (which has some fast movements) and do some comparisons.
Some complain that it feels too much like a "home video", but with eyes accustomed to high FPS in games many here might appreciate the smoothing more than the average jock.

My needs are few - PC-use only, loads up really quickly, has a low footprint, and works well.

To all those VLC users - Get back to me when they've fixed the 500ms delay between pressing Spacebar, and the video pausing ;)

WMP for music and VLC for movies. XBMC box in main room as media player.

To TV = Western Digital Live Media Player

I wanna say Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player is always what I'm using. Its function on commercial Blu-ray Disc are powerful.
 
I'm using MPC HC at home and never even caught myself thinking about a different player. Is there anything I should really consider and maybe switch to something better?
 
foobar > music
VLC > video

Don't see myself switching anytime soon esp. on foobar...love the minimalist w/ options to expand thing they have going.
 
XBMC everywhere.

Mediamonkey for music tagging and ripping as my library is massive, so viewing it in XBMC (as pretty as it is) can be a pain, as can tagging it. Often use mp3tag for mass tag updates.

I recently discovered the XBMC radio plugins and holy mackerel but I'm impressed. Saved 30 or so favourite radio stations from around the world (FM & streaming) and simply pick one depending on the mood I'm in. Most send tags with the currently playing tracks as well, so XBMC can display it beautifully as well as pull lyrics for most of the non-obscure ones.

And as a replacement for channel surfing DSTv, I've chosen PseudoTV Live - allows channels to be created from local content, and from streaming sources.

The last bit of my home theatre jigsaw is sport - SportsDevil doesn't always cut it, and NTV buffers like crazy on my slow line. Have to resort to opening a Chrome page to load Supersport's site to live stream

BTW for those interested, Multichoice are looking in to full XBMC integration with their PVRs and for streaming content. Can't say any more just yet, but they are looking at ways to get into the HTPC systems...
