Hello dear geeks fellow ,
I would like to know if there's any android developer here and how much can you charge to develop an app?
I would like to have an idea about the price and then go for it once I'm ready.
The app should allow customers to pay invoices in a click of button as well as unable them to track dear orders.

The app would be in english though right?

Coding in whatever language this is might make it more costly...

You should rather come up with a budget, then double it and divide by the number of hours or how much per hour a dev would work for.

Example: R25 000
R50 000 / (500r/h)= 100 hrs
That's 2 and half weeks work. i.e. 100 hours for requirements gathering, status meetings, development, testing, support etc.
Good luck on that :)

Well let say I can take care of the front end design myself(I will).
and R12 500 is the money on the table!
Deadline: 38 days
do you have any opinion on that?

Ps: By the way I've edited my first post in this thread, now folks could read and understand clearly.

Are you sure? Would you like to try again?

Hi Stian,

Let's take nakedpeanuts equation and put the numbers in:

Your budget: R12 500
App developer hourly rate: R400 to R1000, let's settle on R600
Hours to complete: R 12 500 / R600 = 20 hours.

20 hours = 3 days of work.
That's probably long enough to for the developer to have the initial meeting, get some research done, spec out the project, decide on what framework/technology to us, get a project plan in place, basically most things before the actual development happens.

You probably want to find triple the budget as a start - there will be more expenses (testing, etc, etc, etc).

Do you want it for IOS or Android or both?
Do you want it native or Hybrid

38 days is 304 hours. Which at R12 500 gives you R41.12 per hour. :(

Using R600 per hour. Which is conservative imho. IF your project is to be completed in 38 days, you're looking at R182 400.

Sure you can do it cheaper, but would you really want to?

I want it mainly in Android.
I understand your reasoning trust me however the way you guys are speaking it seems like you are not into private contractor side of the software development industry? I mean since when a developer charges for an exact numbers of hours spent to a project? I have even read some guys posting on these thread "100hrs" ! Really ?? Lol come on now ! I know that I need help but rest assured dear mates I'm not a neophyte neither.

"100hrs" invoice?? Lol
