Well Its Rage Weekend As We All Know.

So i went today, major packed i was impressed with the show although its been the same for the past few years for me.

PROS:

Good Titles On Display, Saw Some Mean Hardware, The Vibe, The Microsoft And Speed And Sound Girls :) And Then The Bargins You Can Get (All I Bought Was A X360 Game)

CONS:

Was major busy and had to wait to demo some new games, medal of honour didnt look good (my opinion), microsoft stand was boring and a few others.

Thats my experience, dont go and comment on my above words, because its MY EXPERIENCE, sooo how was your experience ?

Rage was crap! Up until now I have simply gone to Rage on principle, but from now on, I think I will go if and when there are going to be titles that I can't wait to see. Personally I was interested in the Xbox stuff on display. I think the ONLY thing I enjoyed taking a look at was dead space 2. Other than that, there was NOTHING of interest to me. I did take a look at some of the new motion control games on Xbox and PS3 and can say I was THOROUGHLY unimpressed. Thats not really a comment about RAGE itself, but it does have some bearing on the fact that I found the whole expo to be lacking in interesting stuff

i wasn't phased really.

Cool Stuff:

1. That dude modding that case with the Dremmel, doing everything from scratch, pretty awesome.
2. The LAN looked cool.
3. The incredible connection stand - I saw pr0n on one of the big screens, and one of the dudes manning the stand almost shat his pants. Epic funny.
4. Nice to see MSI stuff for a change, I hardly get exposed to their hardware.
5. Overall nice hardware show :)

Stupid.

1. I only saw 1 atm machine, with like 200 people q'ing - thats retarded.
2. NAG giving us the MARCH issue in the goodie bag. That's seriously low, giving us your old expired stock you couldnt sell.
3. AMD having that knob who used to be on Solid Gold FM , trying to be all gangster and getting people to act retarded for a crappy amd t-shirt. lame.
4. The Dragon Age 2 dude - lol, he explained nothing, just told everyone a thousand times not to take a picture. Fail.
5. Cage wrestling with pippa and someone else - was scheduled for 1pm , at 1:30pm nothing had happpened, she was still standing outside talking crap.
6. Asus stand - had hoped for more. 3 dudes pouring nitrogen onto chips with a barrier so high you couldnt see the pc's. dumb.
7. booth babes were almost non-existant. to be fair speed and sound had the hotties.
8. It was too busy to even get a go on deadspace, fifa etc...so didnt actually get to play on anything.

Was my first and last time. Too busy, not enough actual cool tech on display. No cool new displays or sound systems meh... Go to your local mall and you can probably find more cool stuff than what was on display. They should rather rename it to gaming expo or something cause the technology was seriously lacking.

Hmmm fail, and to think I was going to go this time for my first time.

If you did not go, you missed nothing. Nough said ;)

Howzit,

i didnt go, but what did you guys think of kinect? I havnt seen anyone say anything about it so im guessing its ***.
Will it be able to rival the PS3 Move?

I saw both, The kinect is kinda cool because there are no controllers, but when I watched it seemed kinda sluggish. The guy racing kept crashing because there seemed to be a delay between his movement and the cars. Also then because of the delay there was oversteer. To be fair that might have been the game tho.

The Move one the other hand is awesome. I have a sore arm today because I played it so much. Its nothing like the Wii.

I don't get the point of all this..... why not go out and play real tennis? I thought the idea was about having a game while sitting comfortably on your couch?

Yeah i jolled the Move, played the sword fighting, archery, tiger woods 11 and Start the party. Very very awesome.

I think MS has shot themselves in the foot with kinect :/

agree.

Kinetc seemed slow. I saw the animal one where you jump and the lion jumps (retarded, but its there). The driving game also looked retarded, as you cant just turn your hands, you need to LEAN to the right, and it seemed like the response was slow. The dancing game seemed to have the best response time, and picked up subtle movements like moving just your hands, or your forearms.

The move on the other hand also seemed quite sluggish. Saw the UFC game (slow response), what looked like a tekken type game with swords and a shield - this was EPICALLY slow, and it did nothing if you moved in a way that wasnt programmed (dumb).

Not sure about this tech yet - seems like the best application is sports games only, everything else just looks weird. I would also get seriousyl frustrated with what seemed like lag on both, and its not exactly free-flowing self expression , still very constrained with what you can and can't do.

Na, its not about tennis, its about a BIG sword and a sheild and beating the kark out of someone. :D

I attended the lan, and well thoroughly enjoyed it!

Pro:
The expo was cool jammed GT5, and F1 in the car seats quite a bit.
Had a go at the Hawx game on that huge 3display setup! Pretty epic.. I want it now :D
Spoke quite a bit with the guy doing the case mod.

cons:
I wish they advertised which games had and should have had more dedicated servers.
AMD guys voice! OMG shoot me now!
Lack of awesome specials.
Crap and expensive food.

I played that kinetic and had quite a bit of fun! Actually considering buying an xbox now. Looked at the PS3 Move and it looks like you holding a wand with stupid glowing golf balls on top.
Those guys doing the liquid nitrogen OC were unfriendly and their stand was just stupid an boring Could have mounted a camera over the board like a meter up and a live feed going to a screen so people could actually see.

I don't see the point of these things. Everything is the same, these days you only have like one OS vendor, a few chip vendors and everyone uses reference designs anyway. Stuff you can read up on on the internet.

Back in the day you had multiple OS vendors, hardware vendors & architectures. You used to go to a show and see exhibitors like Acorn, Commodore, Sun, SGI, Vax etc etc all pawning their wares. Most of the stuff was out of your price range but still good to see the demonstrations etc.

Was crap, waste of R50. too many people huddled round 1 bloody demo, i sat for 1/2 hour and didnt even get close to playing marvel vs capcom 3 :(
