Your Raspberry Pi Projects

Hi there

I am busy with a hexapod robot project using a Raspberry Pi2 and python.
The python programming is still a learning process for me.

Software : Raspbian and Python, and making use of the MIT App Inventor for my android remote control app (via bluetooth)

Fantastic! Very impressed. Did you base your design on anything existing? What materials did you use? Are your parts laser cut? What source do you use for your actuators & electronics?

Planning on putting a brew Pi setup together for monitoring and controlling temperature of my homebrew while it ferments.

This will use a raspberry pi (the original one), an arduino and some temperature probes.

Looking forward to putting it all together.

Oh don't you want to document the process and put it somewhere nice, like Instructables or something? Would LOVE to see it go from idea to a working system.

I'm really just going to be following guides that are already out there - what I am doing is nothing new by any means...

Something along these lines:

If I'm feeling adventurous I may include a 20x4 LCD display into the design so that I can see the temp readouts on the unit.

Could have claimed it! :p Shot for the link, going to give it a read tonight

Ubuntu Mate is really user friendly & has a great GUI. Ideal for someone with little Linux experience.
Mainly used it for the browser though...

Yeah tried it out last night, for some reason had poor audio quality. Will go back to Wheezy for now.

Wanna try FreeBSD on my RPi ...

Also looking for a +/- 18 inch HDMI screen for it. Any ideas where I might get one for a reasonable price?

Anyone will to assist me setting up my RPi 2. i formatted the sdcard propely, but i just cant get the noobs to load on it. no gui, the grenn led jsut blinkers for a few seconds then it does nothing. i just want to run plex media server on it. any help will be appreciated.

if someone in cpt can set it up for me that would be actually better. you can pm me. thanks

Dont think the raspberry pi is powerfull enough as a plex server, but it will do fine as a plex media client, like rasplex.

Basically what you do is use the SDFormat program to format your SD card with, download the NOOBS file for RPi 2 not for RPi - unzip this file to directory on your hard drive, copy all the files onto the SD card insert card into you RPi 2, connect keyboard, mouse and HDMI monitor, plug into power and follow instructions.

Using an old TV with composite output also works, but is a bit more fiddly ...

Not sure what SDFormat does differently than normal Windows format, or, whether you really need to format a brand new SD card at all ... , but follow the instructions to the letter as on the RPi site and forums for sanity sake.
