Your Raspberry Pi Projects

Pity that the Pi doesn't have the grunt to play HEVC. It's otherwise a neat little device.

I couldn't figure out why my Pi wasn't booting after a power failure this morning, but it turns out that each and every time it booted my external HDD was connected and it automounted it as a share using fstab. I have since unplugged it and fstab wasn't happy that it could not see the HDD anymore and refused to boot. Adding nofail to the parameters solved it and it booted up merrily again :)

Maybe this will help:

I figured if the Pi can't run HEVC it should run on a PC/Mac loaded with Raspbian. Hence the 'maybe'.

Anybody heard of the method one can use to utilize the Pi to bypass paid WiFi hotspots? Still trying to get my head around it. It seems you disguise your traffic as DNS, but what throws me is that I reckon that it would require the file you're trying to download to be routed through your Pi's Internet? Thus a 3gb download would have to route through the Pi first and then be disguised and downloaded over the WiFi. I could be wrong, maybe it works differently. Anyway, interesting project I want to try for the fun of it

I've never seen DNS but I know using an ICMP tunnel works, I'd set one up on a Pi Zero with two USB wifi adapters.

My order from ModMyPi is finally at the post office. 3x Pi 3 Starter kits.

Five days to get to SA, a month to get to the post office from arriving.
