Whether your USB-C charger works with the Pi 4 has to do with whether it uses an "e-marked" cable. E-marked cables are fully featured USB-C cables with chips inside that negotiate power management, accessory modes, data rates, and other communication specs. Since the Pi 4 USB-C port is wired incorrectly, these smart cables will detect the Pi 4 as an "Audio Adaptor Accessory" and refuse to charge them. Usually, e-marked cables are more expensive and come with larger, higher-powered items, like a USB-C laptop

By that time, the Pi 6 might be out already.Don't worry, by the time ICASA finally certifies this thing for use in SA, the new revision of the board will be out, with the fixed USB C port. (I'll bet).

Nope, it's the wifi / BT chip which needs to be certified. New revision will be 99% the same with minor tweaks like an extra resistor on the USB C port. It'll still be the "same" board as far as ICASA's concerned. (Just like the Pi Zero WH didn't have to be redone cos the W only was already certified)Unless the new revision has to be re-certified![]()
