Your Raspberry Pi Projects

Thanks, its actually what I was looking at yesterday.

Wish we got sets like this in SA:
Tell me about it - been trying to find this locally for ages. You can buy at places like Banggood but it's a bit awkward for shipping so it ends up not being worth it.
I may have found something close at Mantech - will update you if they ever get back to me regarding my quote. Bad service is just normal service in SA... sigh.

Thought I would offer this here first, for the like minded forumites.

I have a case for the Pi 7" touch screen and Pi 3. Up graded to a Pi 4 and needed a new case. It is just the case and 4 screws to hold the screen to the case, nothing else. Free, I am in Midrand if you want to collect.

interested....do you still have it?

Work in progress, but 90% there Wemos and led strip parking assistant, updates home-assitant when the vehicle is parked.
I've been doing something similar with a wemos d1 - but was using tasmota rules to control a neopixel array, which seems a bit laggy....

I've installed OctoPrint / OctoPi on my pi4 to supervise my Prusa 3D printer. That one had to move into the guest loo because of the noises and the smell.

I've found if I try and average the readings over to many points it also lags - but a I have it now, there's no lag, I do however have some odd readings that make the lights jump - still want to see if I can resolve that.

What would I need to create a simple garage door opener that I can install in our cars (in the dash) - we have a rolling code garage door.

I did something almost exactly like this. No raspberry pi though. My LED strip goes from green, to amber, to red and then flashing red to stop.

I used WLED + Home Assistant / NodRed. Updates happen within 1s.

Why not an ESP with a button, that connects to the wifi and trigger via home assistant the garage door? You already have a sonoff on the garage door?

I thought this was an awesome idea. Probably a bit of a security risk, so you might want to add some decent "conditions" for when to open close etc. like making sure your phone is home etc.

Don't have a Sonoff on the garage door, not planning on adding one - currently it's triggered with its own rolling code remote - and then via a paradox pgm.

I want to add something direct that's fairly fail safe. (i.e. during load shedding)

Buy another remote and wire it into the car then.

That was the initial plan, but its a six button remote (only one button programmed) - and it doesnt fit through the hole, don't feel like removing the entire dash.

I used a Sonoff SV onto my digi one garage motor. Power from the aux 24v, and relay onto the trigger inputs. Flashed with tasmota, and using Domoticz. 10 minute job.

What happens when the wifi is down, and what button do you use in the vehicle?
