My wife and I both have this error on our MTN phones this morning, and still have this when trying to phone out. We stay in Somerset West. Anyone else with a similar error when phoning? I know something like this happened a few months ago, and there was a mass sms appology sent out for those people who were accidentely effected.

I tried to access their website (www.mtn.co.za) to get the contact details, but I just get a Microsoft-IIS/6.0 error. Anyone with a similar issue?

EDIT: The website now works for me.

I have the same problem. not sure what the problem is. this is the first month of my contract with mtn and so far the service has been terrible.

MTN is really full of crap when it comes to suspending. They do NOT warn you and will suspend you before 30 days are over in the case of payment issues.

I was suspended last month because my credit card expired and MTN somehow are unable to update this data from the bank. Needless to say they suspended me for R150 which did not go through due to them using the old card details. They did not inform me, or warn me or tell me anything, i just woke up one morning and my phone was suspended. Takes 1-2 days to get it online again....extremely pathetic way of doing things.

I've been with MTN for years now, and they screw up their side and take months to repay, but if i miss a measly R100 payment [which is all their fault] they suspend without notice.

@kylie , if you're on a new contract, check your credit limits. Normally MTN is a bunch of dumb-arses and set the limit too low and the moment you are invoiced for the 2nd time they suspend you due to going past the limit. Of course MTN does not warn of notify you of this happening, so they suspend and then take "2-48 hours" to reactivate.

My girlfriend has exactly the same issues - she's porting to Vodacom next week

I have a joke of a contract with Nashua Mobile. At the moment I have about 45 "free" sms's that I cannot use due to the, ever so ridiculously stupid, softlock. My available airtime reaches it's limit, which locks my free sms's and also disallows any "please call me" messages. To think that they "CAN" set the softlock to not block all the other functionality. Nashua Mobile + MTN = My last contract with both of them.

All four of my contracts have been suspended this morning, no idea why coz i just paid them them the beginning of the month

Disgruntled employee.

Has the strike come to an end..

Secondary strike underway

http://citizen.co.za/397744/union-to-embark-on-secondary-strike-against-mtn/ interesting developments.. I wonder if their competitors are paying the unions. There is more to the agenda. No work. No pay principal applies.

That must be frustrating. From my side, I DREAM about having my contract suspended. I've been trying to get my MTN contract cancelled for 3 weeks without success.

I am on prepaid and have been having troubles lately. at times; no, make that most of the time, I can't call out or receive any calls. I get a message of "network failure"on my screen. I started thinking it could have something to do with the strike.

It is a good thing I have my main line with Vodacom or else I'd be screwed.
