Your temu orders

Got these for R8 one of those 99% off things and the case isn't great. Build quality isn't great. Initial review was they are a bit flat, but after fiddling with them and using the over ear to get them to fit better. R8 earphones should never sound this good. A tad bass heavy but damn, even for R70 wow. Mic is awful, volume control is strange as its like incremental not smooth

I have now emailed sars and reported the figures to them, to get a better idea of why buffalo logistics would be charging this amount.

Perhaps it is a honest mistake, or at worst some kind of scheme by buffalo logistics. Either way I think Sars would be interested in this.

How will that help though, Sars doesn't give 2 shts about your little parcels and they have no idea what the goods are considering they haven't inspected them, you need to take it up with Buffalo/Temu.

I’m pretty sure they are incorrectly applying the duties to the full order invoice for each shipment because you should only be getting one customs bill for the order not multiple bills, the fact that the shipment was split up should have no bearing on the customs because the manifest should show one order with multiple packages, which is not unusual when shipping. Someone at Temu fked up and didn't group the packages on the shipment manifest as a single order, rather they sent them as seperate items and attached the full invoice value to each one.

Sars could care if a company is overcharging every invoice to every customer and pocketing the difference.

Imagine they repeated this exercise over and over, across every client. From what my wife the accountant tells me. It could amount to sars one day wanting buffalo logistics and now fastway to open their books and see what is going on.

I got the costs from fastway as well now, same order of 10 items. 350 tax instead of nearly 500 from buffalo. But still inflated regardless.

If you want to waste your time "whistleblowing" to Sars about your Temu parcel duties be my guest.

Well buffalo actually told me to go to sars with the invoice.
but I think there must be some SARS number under which your various taxes were levied.
If you don't have that, SARS can't help you, I would think

Maybe, but if you don't ask, you'll never know. What really confuses me is no one between buffalo and temu can answer how they calculate the tax amounts, some say it's Sars telling them how much, but ok who told Sars how much the items are worth? Buffalo says temu as they are the ones selling the item, temu says buffalo as they collect the payment on behalf of sars

just guessing, but I think Temu/Buffalo code the items and then a program spits out a tax summary, which they send to customs for approval

I'm sure they did, just to hand you off to someone else. And Buffalo's customs invoices are just about useless anyway because they contain such little info.

Sars unfortunately won't give 2 shts about some random persons Temu customs issue with claims of the duties being over levied. Just imagine how many complaints they get, that's an extremely common issue, every second non-commercial importer thinks that is the case. And they can't help you without access to the actual goods because commercial or customs invoices are pointless, anyone can make one up.

Your only way to sort this out is via Temu or Buffalo or discard the order and do a chargeback with your bank.

Buffalo does the customs import on behalf of SARS, they will have a special "license" to do so. The manifest and commercial invoice is all digital these days and duties will be automatically levied and sent to the recipient, no one will actually inspect the parcel or manually look at anything before the duties payable invoice is sent. So someone screwed up the manifest or commercial invoice, which I'm assuming was Temu because all the different couriers are hitting the order with very high duties.

Thanks, that isn't even clothing so shouldn't be attracting a particularly high duty.
How many are in each shipment and can you post one of the customs invoices here?
I don't have a customs invoice, just the total invoice. Each shipment is 8-12 units first one buffalo with 7, second fastway with 12, third buffalo with 8

Thanks, it’s wild how much they are charging for duties considering how low the value is.
What does it show you when you click on that "details" button?
If you view the "pay tax" webpage on a desktop browser theres normally the option to download a basic customs invoice that shows the items and what tax category they have been levied under.
