Your temu orders

Go check should be ready for tax
You won't believe it but 2hrs after this message email arrives from Buffalo. So we all good 2.7k and only R320 tax. So not too bad. No clothing mostly crafts, watch straps, screwdriver sets, sunnies, multitools, indoor fake plants and various accoutrements.

yes, got this one yesterday (camera+solar panel).
Seems quite good quality, uses O-KAM app and also has O-KAM windows software, but haven't been able to get it to work with iSpy or other phone apps. Tested solar panel and can supply 0.6W at 5V

The other one that I ordered will probably be delivered tomorrow - comes without solar panel

That link still has the panel. Got one without it?

2ndly is there an option in the app where you can get the RTSP url?

Clothing mostly. Decent quality and likely from the exact same sweatshop ( maybe even a real production line) than all the others imho.

This looks fun:

What's up with these random customs duties? My first order came to R584 and the customs duty was R80.80 - and this order included some clothing, which I believe carries high duties. My current order came to R288 and the duties are R113.30! WTF? And there's no clothing in there. It's all bits and pieces of household goods and one small aux audio cable.

First order was Buffalo, this order is Fastway.

What happens if I don't pay the duty? Will they refund the order? Can I choose to initiate a refund on the Temu website?

I also noticed Fastway customs is way higher than Buffalo and they refuse to say for the spesific order what the customs per item is.

You can request an invoice from fastway, like I did, but there is only one line item on it called customs. I am sure the f'rs are hiding a handling fee in that customs amount. I think Buffalo does the same but their fee is smaller. Because your first order was for a big amount you would not notice this extra fee but for small order you sure notice it.

If I am not mistaken if you refuse to pay customs then fastway will send you reminders until they start phoning you. I think it takes months and then it has to go back to China and you get credited for it on your account.

Did your order perhaps occur from the spinning wheel where you get 90% or 100% of one item?

So - my ID... if they complain ... wifes ID ... if they complain ... kids v1 ID .... if they complain ... kid v2 ID.
R600 000 a year will buy plenty of Tshirts and cell phone accessories.

I have emailed Fastway and they responded quickly with a generic "Customs Duties and VAT are calculated on Commodity i.e. what you have bought and the value of the goods. Each product is assigned its own HS code (tariff heading) that depicts the % of duty applicable to customs on import. " I've replied asking for the specific HS code and amount of duty on each item in my order - let's see what happens.

There was no spinning wheel as far as I'm aware - I've never seen that. Though many items were "lightning deals" and the order show a total cost of R1331 with a discount of R1043. But if they're calculating duty on the non-discounted amount, then it's too little - that would be only 8.5%. So it can't be that.

I guess I'll just pay it - the stuff is probably still cheaper with 40% added on, but in future I'm not going to order anything that is more than half the cost of what I could get it for in SA.
