Your tenant / squatter nightmare stories ?

... and ... the neighbour has sent us a photo of a moving truck outside the unit :)

We couldn't make it - but we asked people to go check and they've confirmed she's moving and will be out by 14:00 :) A few days later than the eviction order - but we cannot wait. We're disabling all accesses etc at 14:00 !

South Africa need to update their laws so this doesn't happen again, but they won't
At last

Very glad that you got a favorable outcome after your tedious battle. Its been a rollercoaster ride and Im just reading. Cant imagine the relief you must be feeling right now, like a ton of bricks off your shoulders.

Remember to call a locksmith and replace the locks.

It looks like my US visa wont get renewed, and I dont want to mess with DHS.

In all likelihood, I will back in SA in the next 6 to 8 weeks and will have to go to the property and fight with the tenants.

The law in SA certainly doesnt favour the home owner!

Don't get slack with relief that she's gone - make sure you register her where ever possible.

Depending on the locks, you can probably actually DIY. Builders or your local hardware stall sells them, you mostly just need a screwdriver to remove the old one and put a new one in.
Gate locks usually require a drill, a 4mm drill bit and a riveter to replace. Takes 5 minutes.

Am so happy the outcome was good. Costly battle but still really happy that your battle is over. I waited the entire weekend for an update!

That sucks big time dude... But yeah, Def don't fsck with DHS.

So went there last night ...., and not too bad actually.

3 x broken lights and a broken door handle, but it's alright. Filthy though!

Hope you took your hand sanitizer, probably left you corona for your troubles :-P
