Your work/development PC

Win 8.1 Enterprise
DELL XPS L702X laptop
Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU 2.20GHz
16.0 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M
17" display

Also have 23" (DELL 2340L) monitor on my desk

i7 something 2.5ghz, 16 gig ram, 250 sdd
So I want to know what your work/development PC is like?

Does your company upgrade them often? Or do they refuse perhaps?

What is acceptable/unacceptable?

Dell Inspiron
i7-4510U
16gig ram
1 tb harddrive
15" touch 1080p + LG 22" 1080p
logitech unifying receiver

logitech K360 keyboard + logitech M705 at home and work.

Not really in the web/software dev field, but I work on after hours projects (mainly web and game dev). These are my specs:
i7 2630 QM CPU @ 2.00 GHZ
4GB RAM
Radeon HD 6770M (Total of 2789 MB)
684GB Total Primary Hard Disk

Haven't had a problem so far.

Some sweet specs.... Just out of interest, what would you develop with that PC?? Web Design, Desktop applications?? What graphics card do you have with that PC?

I do all my stuff on my laptop... although it feels really slow, and a format would do the trick.

I dev in whatever language is best suited for the app.
I have the crappy intel gpu.

Non company, my school laptop. Studying AppDev dev at uni, need the system specs for the android emulators, they are badly optimized.

And GTX960M.
The Lenovo Y5070.

Edit: CamiKaze, your text doesn't look that great on my screen, have you tried using ClearType or do you like it like that?

Haven't played around with the ClearType since I got the machine.

Well, I've got 6x 30" (2560x1600), so technically I have more pixels. :)
I have the exact same resolution on my laptop.

I'm talking here about 4K resolution 3840 pixels. Then your only really leet if it is running at 60Hz and its an IPS screen

LG are claiming they are building an 8K screen which will get released with the new iMac later this year. That will put you on a totally different level.

Yeah, I know that UHD has 2x the pixels, but I have 6 monitors (all IPS) - 3 wide and 2 high ;)

I'm impressed at the amount of SSD's.
Yeah those 5400rpm laptop drives just murder employee happiness levels...

I am just so used to the keyboard + large raised monitor config
Yeah in the long run its probably the best. I know some of my peers in the US carry portable secondary screens for their laptops but that seems like more hassle to me.

Ok you win. :) I don't think anyone on this forum can match you.

PS. Say hello to your neck doctor for me

Heh :) - the upper row can be a bit tough on the neck, I primarily use them for quick tasks or for monitoring purposes. Sometimes I also have a whole bunch of graphs I want to see at high red at the same time too. Most of the dev work I do is done on the bottom three and a bit on the middle top.

The guy to my left has 8 (2 more on top), but he just monitors things.

There you go:

Code:
CPUScore : 8.2
D3DScore : 7.4
DiskScore : 5.9
GraphicsScore : 5.9
MemoryScore : 8.2

Sounds horrible and probably happens more often than not.

When I joined my company I had a new shine new MacBook Pro 17" waiting for me. :D

*shiny

yea when i joined i got a MAC Book pro as well! See screenshot :)

I so desperately wish we could have BYOD in our office and I would gladly go buy a MacBook out of my own pocket so as not to work on this HP piece of ****.

Even if I have to install Windows on it, that's fine.

How many companies allow (force) you to use your own machine?
