YouTube App not supported Android 6.0

Perhaps you can show me how to get this working on my 2nd gen iPad ?

no ?

Apple is actually way worse with this, at least with Android you can put unofficial OS's and side load apps.
You mean the iPad from 2011? The one that was discontinued in 2014? The 13 year old one!?

Sorry, I thought we were talking about the Android version that ended 7 years ago.

For many years I have been viewing YouTube videos on the App on a variety of (older) Android phones. Suddenly this morning a message pops up saying the App is no longer supported, and I must use youtube.com in my browser (not quite the same experience on a mobile device). The Play Store says nothing about this, and Android 6.0 is still supported (re-installed, same message).

Any ideas when/how this happened? (Upgrading my phone is not an option at present).

Tbh, would not consider them dropping Android 6/7 an issue, even the S6 (2015) has support for Android 8/Oreo.
You have to go back to the Samsung S5 (2014) for a flagship device that isn't supported anymore, and at 10 years, with how fast mobile tech changed, that's not really an issue (e.g. the s5 is a 4C/4T part on a 28nm process, a mid-range Samsung A55 is an 8C/8T part, on Geekbench 4.4 multi core it's 14k points vs 2.7k and single core 4.2k vs 1k).
Officially no it stopped at Android 7.
You may have seen reports recently suggesting that the Galaxy S6 Android 8.0 Oreo update could be released next month. Those who are familiar with how Android platform updates work know better not to hold their breath because it's highly unlikely that Samsung is even working on Oreo for the Galaxy S6.

Jailbreaking is a thing you know?

Try & see if you can install this app from the Play Store as an alternative to the official YouTube app...

I very rarely respond to new forum members, and have never previously loaded anything outside the Play Store. However i can confirm that the above application does load sucessfully on Android 6, and closely mimicks the existing YouTube functionality. Thank you sir!

Edit: The good news is that it works. The bad news is that it requires it's own version of Google Play Services. By the time the App is installed, another 0.5GB of RAM is gone, and the phone becomes severely limited...

No thanks rather stick to a open source solution.

Useless without a certificate.

Using Brave allows you to watch YT without ads. That's a bonus feature. :)
