Anyone found it streams longer on the iPad compared to a PC?

I've got a 1Mb line and a small buffer in the beginning means the whole thing plays on a PC. However, on the iPad buffering is slow and it always catches up.

Wifi indicates full signal and a speediest indicates the lie is running ok.

Is there maybe a conversion or transcoding process on an iPad?

I also notice this, in some cases it's faster for me to stream the video in HD than to switch to SD. Very confusing... I only run YouTube through safari, the app is pretty crap!

On my line, this stops once at about 5 seconds to buffer for a further 5 seconds - and then the entire video plays without a stutter at 360. I also don't use the iPad app and go through Safari ... but I guess Safari could be pulling a HD version as I see this particular video is 1080.

I need to check hat it's pulling

iPads use high resolution videos by default ie 720p. To view a smaller video, go to m.youtube.com

Download an app called Isafeplay. Works great with downloading YouTube content without any delays.

Protube if you jailbroken.

If not instead of using the native YouTube app browse YouTube in safari, add bookmark choosing the add home screen option. That will put a YouTube icon on your home screen.

Not JB ...

Seems the issue is that HD/non HD.

Even Youtube on Safari (m.youtube) doesn't give a resolution (only HQ or non-HQ) and that's the issue.

If you create a homescreen shortcut to the Youtube website you would be able to activate/deactivate HQ, same way you can when using Youtube via Safari..

I assume HQ off would stream in the lowest available res
