Recently I've noticed that the volume of YouTube videos had gone down substantially. There are many complaints about this on the internet, so it seems to be a common but not universal problem. I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem, how you managed to fix it if at all, and if subscribing to YouTube premium fixes it?

on my mobile yes defiantly, on my TV haven't noticed a difference

Not sure how youtube premium will 'fix' this?

Most likely programmers at YouTube updated the internal sound normalizer to adjust the audio of said videos.

You can do a 'test' if you are viewing on a pc - right click the video and select 'Stats for Nerds'. You will see how much YouTube increased/decreased the sound volume of the video.

Maybe YouTube are doing this intentionally to make YouTube Premium more attractive? I've also noticed that the 10-second fast-forward and rewind functions have disappeared, which is a nuisance.

I feel rather stupid now, but I see that I just had to adjust the headphone volume, which is separate from the volume on my cellphone.

Still, the 10-second fast-forward and rewind functions have disappeared on my phone.
