agreed, I mean wasnt that idea shut down previously, by limiting/speeding up certain Websites, depending on your ISP,
or depending on where your surfing? also by all the Censorship Laws they tried and failed to enact.

No such issue since I switched to Firefox. For some reason YouTube stopped recommending anything I’d shown interest in once I’d closed and reopened my browser (any chromium browser, I might add). Usually watch a lot a Warhammer battle reports and footie highlights, so my YouTube page normally has a lot of new stuff to choose from, until about a week ago.

Now every time I open browser and go to YouTube.com, I see the generic clickbait, shocked face, saturated thumbnails for bullshit. Or there’s nothing at all and it asks me to search for something. Surprisingly, doesn’t happen now that I’m on Firefox, so it’s definitely a chromium issue. And yes, I’ve cleared cache and cookies multiple times. And no, I’m not signed into my gmail account.

I recall an article where YouTube said you won't receive recommendations unless you're signed in. Even that caused some form of outcry :ROFL:

I had the exact same issue several months ago, I was complaining to a friend of mine that after spending 10 minutes on the crapper scrolling through videos I'd just close YouTube. Nothing I was subscribed to would be recommended - NOTHING. A while later he put me on his Premium account (yes, I'm a freeloader like that, LOL) and ever since my recommendations have changed. I generally find something worth watching in the first three recommendations, and very often the first.

It's once again relevant to my subscriptions and watch history. Even searching the exact title of the video I was after would often give a few semi-related results followed by the most random "people also watched" or whatever it was called, and if I kept scrolling I'd eventually find the video.

This wasn't a Chromium thing for me. This was happening on both Chrome and the iPhone app.

YouTube really, REALLY wants people to pay. It's as if they're seeing that even forcing adverts won't be profitable enough.
 
Hmm, people that use YouTube on Safari on old iPads (App store no longer functional) have also been complaining about this.

Any idea when that was? Been receiving recommendations for years until they suddenly stopped last week.

Ah, I remember. It's mid August. It won't show you recommendations if you have your watch history turned off. I'm assuming if you're not signed in, it's effectively the same. I cannot confirm that though.
