YouTube's ad-blocker code reportedly causes video start-up lag on desktop browsers

Weird, always assumed that’s what cookies were for.
 
YT premium subscriber running on Mi box & Ematic media boxes, I've noticed some video issues. Some video's just won't load - just a black screen, but when I go back to preview the video plays :rolleyes:

No issues on mobile.

uBlock on Edge changes every now and then. A couple of times it worked for a while, then Youtube detected it for a while, then it works again for a while.
Currently it has been working for a couple of weeks.

Correct, the problem goes away if you spoof the user agent to trick Youtube into thinking you are using Chrome.

But if you are using ublock origin, they filter out the pause for you.
 
This was already discussed on the internet with many tests were conducted over a course of 2 days,the outcome is varied across all platforms,Sorry but its not all evil as people thought.All browsers have that code injected in it.It will be rectified over the course of time.
 
As of today I am experiencing the issue, it manifests as if the internet is being throttled but speedtests are excellent. When I looked deeper it's YouTube doing it because I have a minimal adblock setup for irritating sites and that still interferes. It also seems to cause my GMail to load a blank page from time to time.
So Google want you to be completely ad-block less

How immature and unreasonable of them. And almost everyone else on the Internet.

But chrome somehow always ignores it. Even Brave and Opera was affected.

The main thing that is variable is which user sessions were affected, which is normal for any platform at this scale.

I am a Premium subscriber.
I just prefer the interface and features on these apps vs the Google experience.
eg. disable shorts in my feed.
The standard YT app on Nvidia Shield has minimal features and also playback speed disabled, STB has allows playback speed and many other features.

I watched 30 videos and read articles on this for 2 days.I use FF and ublock and i cant see the delay.On my android FF there is a problem, but on my pc nothing changed

I wouldn't hold my breath about the EU. Only if Germany or France (those countries only) had a browser competitor. Only then would Brussels do something.

ublock was very fast on introducing a filter on desktop, so you may not have been affected on your desktop.
 
Update: no delay on FF when I start a video, but definitely some buffering issues if I skip ahead. Tested on Brave (RIP) and I can skip to any point in the same video without any buffering.
