you've been "noded"

Not only to type it out but to read it as its a sheet has all the information and the print is so small I have to wear 2 pairs of glasses just to see it [:D]

Argh!!! This morning since 8 I've been battling to connect again. So I took the modem off the router and back to the usb to see what it says. Same old "remote computer does not respond". Even logged a call to Sentech. So plugged it back into the router and move around the modem and eventually it connects. Why it connects easier through the router than through sentech's and windows dialer I don't know, but I can't connect at all if I don't have the router on *kisses router*

Anyway, ProAsm, I hope you read this. I did try picking up tower 110 while I was battling to connect, but it just doesn't pick it up.

We've ordered an antenna (not from Fastcomm), hopefully we will have it by end of next week or the week after. Hopefully all this "sukkeling" comes to an end then.

If the antenna is mounted outside, it will work a lot better, so try and get an external anetnna, although it will cost more, it will be worth it. [:D]

How special, my budget is quite tight this month, too many damned birthday parites [:p]

Have I been "noded" ?

There are four basestations in my area. Three of them are under 4km distant, and the fourth (number 36) is over 8km away. For some reason my modem attaches to the distant station (33%, RSCP -72dBm, ISCP -88dBm) and ignores the closer stations, one of which is 3.1km away and clearly visible from my balcony. But my signal can't seem to reach 36 and I get a "There was no answer" message and a disconnect, even with Fastcomms patch antenna. Moving the antenna around does not help.

What to do ? Directional antenna ? Moan like a drain at Sentech ?

Fastcomms antenna is directional

look at the error message it gives you, does it say "disconnected by modem" or "disconnected by network"

there's a big difference

then your modem is not getting a return signal from the tower and terminating the connection attempt itself

I've had this problem during the weekend and last night, not sure what is going on

I have had a similar kind of problem. Last week everything was fine and I never ever got dropped. Suddenly yesterday I start getting major dropouts. I cant make it autoredial since MySignal gives up after a while. What could be the cause of this? I mean it was working perfectly..

Is it something with the tower or what?

Im connecting to (when it allows me to) tower 36 (sunnyside) with about 18-21% signal strength.

This is getting annoying.

If you get the message "disconnected by modem" then the chances are you need to reboot your PC as Windows has lost the driver interface.
This is a typical message you get with Win98 although I've had it on Xp on the odd occasions.

oh yea, forgot that
i rebooted, unplugged the modem and physically turned it off and on (without power it allows you to do that)

and it worked

still dont explain the slow speeds i'm getting since this weekend

aaaaargh... this is not mywireless related... but got no one else to ask at 11pm at night.

my explorer tonight is suddenly just pausing every now and then for about 7 or 8 seconds (just freezes) and then carries on...??? not running any apps in backg, no data transferring, rebooted, ran stingers and trojan checks... nutting?

any ideas?
