Sorry if this has been asked before but just wondering about one or two things.

I have been downloading from YTS (formerly YIFY) for many years now and have been very happy with the quality. I understand that downloading 1080p at just under 2GB files you are going to be loosing out on alot so I want to know is it mainly just the audio you will be loosing out on?

Why I ask is at the moment I don't have any sort of surround sound speaker setup at all - just watch off my 42" tv using tv speakers (this will change hopefully in the next few months).

I also download a few 3D movies from YTS and they have all looked fine too.

My main question is, is it better for me to rather download the 5-7GB 3D blu-ray rips or will I get the same 3D experience from the 2GB YTS rip?

Any insight or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Keep on downloading Yify. When you get the surround sound systems, then get the bigger rips.
No reason to "upgrade" if your not doing it for the sound

Yeah I thought as much.

The picture quality look great but their is no 5.1 sound ect.

There are few femovies where I have downloaded 15GB+ files but thats just to have I suppose.

So to make sure, there will be no difference in picture quality / 3D effect between a 5GB 3D MKV file and YTS 2GB file?

You need to get your eyes tested if those rips look fine to you :D

Haha...

They obviously look nothing like compared to a full Blu-Ray rip but I don't think the double the size file will be worth me getting now if I watch on a 42" tv without surround sound ect - or do t=you think it will?

I can easily see the difference between quality from YTS and movies or tv shows I watch on Netflix (have it set to Full HD).

Couple quotes from another debate :

Ah, the ol' quality vs quantity debate.

For me, I have a plasma - so even 480p looks great. I'm fine with it.
(Although for good shows and blockbuster movies I prefer 720p and higher)

So, it depends what it is... just another series or movie? SD is fine. The good stuff? 720p and up of course.

Unless you have VDSL like zoidberg, why the need to get 720p or 1080p of absolutely everything?? :wtf:

Edit: Also... I'd rather get 10 x 1GB YIFI mkv's instead of 1 x 10GB mkv.

I don't get what people see in the YIFY releases, both the video and audio quality is usually awful. What am I missing?

I'd say the video is pretty much spot on, but yes the audio is always lacking...

Yeah kind of what I thought.

So for now will keep getting YTS rips until I sort out surround sound ect then might look into getting proper rips.

On a side note, the 3D rips from YTS won't suffer would it? Surely the smaller size won't take away from 3D effects?

Bit of a thread necro here.. but sadly YTS/YIFY is no more.
Where now.. :-(

A blackhole for me.. Haven't tried figuring out how it works and all that. Looks like I'll have to spend some time checking it out.

it's actually much easier than it looks/sounds ........ grab the nzb and have sabnzbd do the rest, easy as
