Zimbabwe has the highest condom usage in the world and this has contributed to a reduction in HIV infections, the state-run National Aids Council (NAC) has revealed.

NAC's director of monitoring and evaluating, Amon Mpofu, said the latest data indicated that Zimbabwe now tops in terms of condom usage with over 109 million condoms distributed in 2014 alone.

Data was collected in partnership with the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA).

“We are the highest consumers of condoms in the world currently. That is why we have realised a reduction in HIV infection rates. We had 104 million male condoms and 5.2 million female condoms distributed in 2014 alone,” Mpofu said.

Mpofu also encouraged Zimbabwean men to go for HIV/Aids screenings, insisting that “a recent study has also revealed that most men in this country were afraid to go for HIV testing”.

The reduction in infection rate is good news for Zimbabwe, with just over 1.4 million people who are now living with the virus.

No Amon, you may have the highest condom distribution in the world (and even that I don't believe), but you have no way of knowing the usage patterns of those distributed condoms.

Not surprised....

Wasn't there a current affairs article a year or so ago about condoms being also used for arthritis pain or something?

Must be due to all the stress. Sex is a good form of stress relief.

??
useless figure
what of the multitudes too afraid to go for testing

Well it would not be surprising for the 30 something's and older, as they are highly educated. The youth with a bob education? Don't know so much. As it is worth less than ours.
Lizzie says they still prefer the queens education and you can still choose.

Well you can't get AIDS if you die of hunger first so I guess that makes sense.

Zimbabwe is not a place to bring up kids, apparently.

What is the condom use under the real bulk of Zimbabweans? You know, the ones in our country..

And? It's still a shytehole. Doesnt matter if they use condoms or not.
