Zing Zing Click...Zing Zing Click

So my Hard Drive started to make a "Zing Zing Click" noise (last for 10 seconds) once every hour or so. Is it time to start with a back up?

It has done it for more than 3 months now, but it's occurring more and more over the last 2 weeks.

Does Storgate replace any other Hard Drives other than Segate (think it could be a Samsung)

There is 2 drives in the case, so not sure which one it is. The oldest one was bought in '05. Still a warranty upto 2010 at Storgate (replaced it when it was 2 months old)

While it's always a good time to start backing up . . . good time might have just became critical.

It's always a good time to start backing up . . . particularly now.

Well it is a minimum of 400GIG so it's going to take ages with my 4.7G dvd's.

use cd's much cheaper.

Can you disconnect the one that is not for your OS... and then check which one makes the noise?

Yes, it is a good time to back up. I normally buy a new one, format it... and back up onto that... then install the OS onto it after the backup.
