Zone Locator Confusion

Hi,

The other day I was on the Zone Locator on Sentech's site checking whether or not I could get reception at my house and I came across an interesting result. My house is in a partial reception area while my neighbours on either side are get a good reception. Pretty odd cause my house isnt in any paranormal ditch or anything like that, it is exactly level (if not higher) than both my neighbours.

I was wondering whether or not I could tempt anyone close or in the Ferndale (Randburg) area to come over to my house to let me test with their "modem" before I go and get the connection. I am offering free milk and cookies.

I have no doubt that this is just a minor error on the locator applet, but would be nice to make sure anyway.

Thanks to anyone who can provide any input or help.

Don't pay too much attention to that thing. In my opinion it says good when it means you can use the modem anywhere on the property, like a cellphone. The difference is that you're going to move your computer to a spot that works, put it as high as possible, against a window facing the tower.

On my stand it said 'good' but I definitely can't just move it anywhere. I can quite easily get reliable 15 - 20 % signal, but only in *very* specific and localised spots in the house, e.g. where it is sitting I get three or four dots but if I move it 15 cm in any direction it drops to 2 or 1 or 0.

It's a little hilly around here so I never really believed the 'good' rating anyway. Two neighbouring stands get 'partial', and one or two on the other side get 'good'. Some stands behind the partials (halfway round the other side of the hill) get 'poor', but strangely enough, those are facing the direction from which I seem to get reception, and the 'good's seem to face away from the direction from which I get reception.
