Zucchini as a pasta replacement

Zucchini are what we know as courgette. You can get them pretty much anywhere... you would need to make the pasta out of it though.

OK ... so I must look out for courgette then?

Had a look on youtube and to make noodles, or zoodles, you pretty much just use a julienne cutter thing and then you fry them in the pan so they go soft and viola....zoodles. :)

I've had it from our food delivery service and it really wasn't bad at all.

probably less effort to just by it premade Ock.

You can do that? Where? Will have a look out then for that at the shops....but I dont mind cutting up a phallic shaped vegetable :D

I've done it.

Cut zucchini into strips, leave out pits, let it drain for a bit.
Fry in pan - add bacon and cherry tomatoes.

Top that **** with an avo that you blended with some oil (pepper etc). Basically guacamole.

Have mouthgasm.

We still do this like once a week.

Works really well as pasta replacement.

I've never fried them in a pan though (will try it next time). I usually boil them for like 1min max. Any longer and they become too soggy and release a lot of water afterwards.

Just drain them well before dishing up.

Pretty sure I've seen it at P&P but I might be wrong.

I find it highly unlikely that our food delivery service would be making the actual pasta.

You get spiralisers on yuppiechef - http://www.yuppiechef.com/gefu.htm

Otherwise, I have used a potato peeler then used the marrow slices instead of pasta in a lasagne. No need to cook them before hand.

I was looking at getting that, but a julienne peeler works just as well. If you ignore the Verimark logo for a sec the Shogun is actually pretty good for this and they have a new Shogun Quattro which looks good as well.

Yah, the shogun one is decent.

I would not buy one of those spiralisers, as I try to avoid single purpose items.

Anyone got the Shogun Quattro as mentioned above? I'd be interested in hearing if it works as described.
