Zuma must apologise for ANC comes first comment - DA

Genevieve Quintal, News24
Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma's comments that the ANC comes first and the country second is a violation of his oath of office, the Democratic Alliance said on Sunday.

The official opposition party wanted Zuma to retract the comment and apologise.

"This is unbecoming of a President who has sworn an oath to be faithful to the Republic of South Africa," DA MP Kobus Marais said in a statement.

"It is this kind of sentiment that allows for abuse of power - to the detriment of ordinary citizens - in the name of the ANC."

Speaking at the African National Congress KwaZulu-Natal conference on Saturday, Zuma said he believed his party came before the country.

"I argued one time with someone who said the country comes first and I said as much as I understand that I think my organisation, the ANC, comes first," he said in his capacity as ANC president.

He also believes democracy means minorities have less rights than the majority.

Face it the man struggles with large numbers, how's he going to deal with advanced logic like the implications of taking an oath if he hasn't even got the basics down?

You know I'd much prefer the DA spend their time trying to get Zuma to admit that he actually is a liability after all.

Guys, you are obviously taking this out of context. What he meant was the ANC comes first in elections. C'mon now.

Maybe senility is creeping in. Ever since that "health scare" last June Zuma mind seems to be slowly deteriorating. I'm surprised his comrades haven't noticed.
Last June? Slowly? He's never been able to pronounce numbers.

The ANC will when it is too late to repair the damage he has caused.
He is the Black Godfather

Ja nè...

This weekend has been a great weekend for Zuma in the news it seems. All round cùnt is the gist of it all.

This is actually a huge middle finger to the country. If the voters had any sense, they'd punish the ANC at the polls for this!

Nothing that a free t-shirt and a streetwise two can't fix...

New ANC KZN leader agrees with Zuma that ‘ANC comes first’

JOHANNESBURG – As President Jacob Zuma's claim that the African National Congress (ANC) is "more important" than the country continues to stoke debate, newly elected KwaZulu-Natal ANC leader
Sihle Zikilala says "you can't actually differentiate between the two".

Zuma told the KZN ANC conference that he believed the party was more important than the state.

Zikilala won the leadership election at the conference, beating provincial premier Senzo Mchunu.

Gigaba jumps to Zuma’s defence over controversial comments

CAPE TOWN - Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has jumped to President Jacob Zuma’s defence over his controversial comment that the African National Congress (ANC) comes before the country.

Gigaba has told the National Assembly that Zuma’s detractors should not opportunistically ‘spin his words’.

Zuma has been strongly criticised by opposition parties and political analysts for the comments he made while addressing the ANC’s KwaZulu-Natal conference at the weekend.

Minister Gigaba had accused the opposition of being obsessed with the president.

Nope Malusi. Zuma is President of SA at all times. He doesn't stop being head of state when he's not in the Union Buildings. In public, at all times, he is the South African head of state, and that comment was inappropriate.

If ANC is more important then they should accept responsibility for poor services deliveries because they can't differentiate between party and country. ANC has less than a million members. Zuma is not the only one that can't count.
