Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has appointed the members of a new board for the SA Broadcasting Corporation.

Mr Mathatha Tsedu

Ms Rachel Kalidass

Mr Michael Markovitz

Mr Victor Rambau

Mr Dinkwanyane Mohuba and

Mr Jack Phalane

"President Zuma wishes all members of the Board all the best during their tenure at the public broadcaster," the presidency said.

At long last.

Does anyone know if the list of appointed Board members is different from that sent to the Presidency by Parliament?

Boards come and go. The only constant is that the SABC will be pathetic.

There's one missing, there were 12 names forwarded to him, 11 were appointed, besides that the list is the same.

Presumably the Board powers delegated to the Acting CEO will now automatically fall away?

So, anyone with a breakdown who are the deployed corrupt ones to look out for?

Right in time to avoid the court threat from this morning. That's Zuma for you, never one for making his own life easy

It would be interesting to understand why the one person was left off the list. Was the person recommended by Parliament to be the permanent Chair of the Board?

Probably was still looking for a loophole to exploit.

What are the salaries of this people? Keep in mind, South Africa has a GDP per Capita of only just over 13.000-USD (PPP), which is well below the world's average (16.000-USD)

Well considering that the new chair is also the chair of the Zuma Wives' Club Foundation and it took ButternutKop right till the 11th hour to make his announcement (and under threat of legal action at that) ..... it is anyone's guess

They don't have a salary but are paid by board meeting.

Ngubane was getting around 500k a year, Tshabalala 1 million a year (for 70 board meetings, which is ludacris).

It seemed to work around 13k per board meeting when Tshabalala was chairperson.

Opposition parties did not like Potgieter-Gqubule and Naidoo.

Why, wasn't he applauded by them after he resigned during the PPC hearing last year over Cloudy's reappointment?

Attorney and now former SABC board member, Krish Naidoo, says a lot of good people will leave the SABC if the governance is allowed to degenerate further.

Naidoo says Motsoeneng should have left the SABC offices after the Supreme Court dismissed his leave to appeal the High Court ruling which effectively set aside his permanent appointment.
